Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 2026
1. On-Device Video & Audio Processing
StatusClips divides, crops, and processes video and audio using Apple's built-in frameworks (specifically AVFoundation, AVAssetReader, AVAssetWriter, AVMutableComposition, and CoreImage).
- No Cloud Uploads: When you select a video from your Photos library or file system, it is read and sliced exclusively within your device's sandbox. We do not operate any server that receives, converts, or stores your videos.
- Volatile Memory & Passthrough: In fast passthrough mode, video and audio packets are copied bit-for-bit in memory and written directly to your chosen destination on your device without retaining cached frames.
- Zero Content Analysis: We do not scan, inspect, transcribe, or perform biometric or semantic AI analysis on your video content, audio tracks, or faces.
2. Device Permissions & Access Controls
To perform its core functions, StatusClips requests access to specific Apple iOS and macOS system capabilities, strictly when needed:
A. Apple Photos Library (PhotoKit)
Used solely to allow you to select videos you wish to split, and to save exported clips into a dedicated "Status Clips" album in your Photos library. The app only accesses assets that you explicitly select via the system Photo Picker, and writes exported clips directly to your library.
B. Files & Document Storage
When you import files from the Files app or Finder (macOS), the app utilizes security-scoped bookmarks to read your selected file and write output clips or ZIP archives to your specified directory.
C. Audio & Microphone
The app does not record live microphone audio. Audio tracks from imported videos are parsed solely to apply user-selected options (such as muting, 0.35s boundary crossfades, volume boost, or audio-only .m4a extraction).
3. Personal Data, Accounts & Identifiers
StatusClips does not require an account, profile, email address, telephone number, or social media login. We do not collect names, contact lists, GPS location, device serial numbers, or advertising identifiers (IDFA).
4. Third-Party Analytics & Crash Diagnostics
To ensure app stability and debug fatal crashes across different iOS and macOS versions, StatusClips may integrate Google Firebase Crashlytics.
- What is sent: Anonymous system diagnostic logs, device model (e.g. iPhone 15 Pro), OS version, and crash stack traces.
- What is NOT sent: Video files, filenames, thumbnails, audio content, user identity, IP address tracking, or personal identifiers.
5. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
Any optional in-app purchases, tips, or subscriptions are processed directly by Apple via the App Store (StoreKit). B-Labs does not collect, receive, or store your credit card information, billing address, or payment details. Apple manages all transactions under its standard privacy terms.
6. Data Retention & User Control
Because all processing occurs locally on your hardware, you maintain 100% control of your media files:
- Deleting a video from your device or Photos library permanently removes it.
- Deleting StatusClips removes its sandboxed temporary working directory.
7. Children's Privacy
StatusClips does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. The app is a local creative utility suitable for general audiences.
